Tapped Beer Guide
Tapped was a conceptual app that allowed users to easily search different beers, save your favorites, discover old, new, seasonal or limited release brews, and generally help you navigate the wide world of beer. The idea came about when my wife, Saundra, and I noticed that a lot of people seemed to have anxiety around approaching a bar and putting in an order. The sheer number of choices that came about with the craft beer wave was in a way inaccessible to some and we sought to figure out how we might be able to help improve the experience of ordering a pint.
The Process
We performed card sorting exercises with patrons at 3 different neighborhood tap bars and interviewed the bartenders to get a better idea of how the current ordering process typically goes and how people feel about that process from both sides of the bar.
